Our Initiatives
The Spotsylvania Education’s main initiatives promote innovation and creativity in Spotsylvania Classrooms! Our grants help teachers inspire students in several ways:
SEF enriches the learning experience of students by awarding grants to teachers that would otherwise not have the funding for hands-on, creative and active learning in the classroom.
SEF also supports educators in Spotsylvania schools by awarding professional development grants.

Teacher Recognition
SCPS teachers are a pivotal part of our mission and SEF looks forward to hosting its annual Excellence in Education event each year which honors SCPS staff that have been recognized by their schools and the division. In addition, the foundation hosts a Thank-A-Thon each November providing students, parents, alum and community members an opportunity to send a shout out to a Spotsy Educator(s) that has made a meaningful impact in their life.
Other Initiatives
The Spotsylvania Education Foundation works closely with the SCPS Division to support student and educator needs. In 2020-2021, SEF was able act quickly and support priority needs in response to the COVID-19 crisis. The Foundation provided funding for a mobile wi-fi hotspot and teacher headsets to support remote learning. In addition, SEF helped place school supply kits in over 1,600 classrooms.
