The Spotsylvania Education Foundation is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization, with a mission to enhance the quality and impact of student learning experiences in Spotsylvania County Public Schools.
SEF is working to create a richer student learning experience through community engagement. The Foundation energizes community members to invest their time, talents and resources – building partnerships that help young minds grow. Our main initiatives include grants that strengthen instruction through innovative projects and professional development.

Our Story
In 2006, the Spotsylvania Education Foundation held its first board meeting; revitalizing the organization formerly known as Spotsylvania Futures. The first set of IDEA Grants for innovative educational activities that engage students was awarded in 2007. The Dr. Jerry Hill Leadership Endowment was formed in 2011 to provide a yearly teacher scholarship focused on enhancing educational leadership. In 2012, the foundation further expanded its grant making by awarding SEED grants to teachers and staff for professional development activities.
Teacher Recognition
An effective teacher is the most important school-based factor impacting student academic engagement, learning and success. SEF looks forward to hosting its annual Excellence in Education event each year which honors SCPS staff that have been recognized by their schools and the division. In addition, the foundation hosts a Thank-A-Thon each November providing students, parents, alum, and community members an opportunity to send a shout out to a Spotsy Educator(s) that has made a meaningful impact in their life.
